apophenic dreams.

"Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in a casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable."

Whatever you lose, you can always find. But what you throw away, will never come back

jazona:

Anything you chose to throw away. You will never see again.
Throw nothing that’s a part of you away. No matter what.

If you’re lost, there’s still hope.
If you ever lose yourself, remember
you can always find your way back.

"Sherlock": Top 5 unfilmed stories

A list of the canon stories that would make interesting BBC episodes, considering the modern twist.  I completely agree with “The Adventure of The Devil’s Foot” (DEVI) being one of those I look forward to seeing, for the reasons already stated, and also because I want to see how and why Sherlock would say to John, for risking both of their lives:

I owe you both my thanks and an apology. It was an unjustifiable experiment even for one’s self, and doubly so for a friend. I am really very sorry.”

And I also completely agree with a modern version of “The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton” (CHAS); because how do you portray a “master blackmailer” in this modern age?  And how exactly do you fight him?

Also, because I’d love to see John’s stubborn loyalty and Sherlock’s resigned affection in this scene:

“Well, I don’t like it, but I suppose it must be,” said I.  ”When do we start?”

“You are not coming.”

“Then you are not going,” said I.  ”I give you my word of honour—and I never broke it in my life—that I will take a cab straight to the police-station and give you away, unless you let me share this adventure with you.”

“You can’t help me.”

“How do you know that?  You can’t tell what may happen.  Anyway, my resolution is taken.  Other people besides you have self-respect, and even reputations.”

Holmes looked annoyed, but his brow cleared, and he clapped me on the shoulder.

“Well, well, my dear fellow, be it so.  We have shared the same room for some years, and it would be amusing if we ended by sharing the same cell.”

Of course, I’m adding “The Adventure of The Three Gariddebs” (3GAR) as well, if only to see how and why John would say:

It was worth a wound—it was worth many wounds—to know the depth of loyalty and love which lay behind that cold mask.”

And how and why Sherlock Holmes would be driven to say:

By the Lord, it is as well for you. If you had killed Watson, you would not have got out of this room alive.”

I think 3GAR can also be fused with “The Red-Headed League,” (REDH) since the plot is similar.  That would be an episode I’d definitely be looking forward to, because REDH has always been one of my favorite canon stories, just because it was one of those that definitely stuck to my mind even when I read it as I child.
